Novozymes North America President Thomas Nagy Appointed to American-Danish Business Council Board of Directors
Thomas Nagy, president of Novozymes North America, Inc. FRANKLINTON, N.C.: (July 18, 2006) - Thomas Nagy, president of Novozymes North America, Inc. since 2004, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the American-Danish Business Council (ADBC).

The ADBC promotes Danish companies in the U.S., and American companies in Denmark. The Council, comprised of an estimated 60 Danish and American companies as members, is engaged in a range of activities targeted at obtaining an even more thriving American-Danish market place with increased trade and investment. The Council is administered through the Office of the Prime Minister of Denmark whose most recent visit to the U.S. included a tour of Novozymes' research facility in Davis, Calif., to learn more about bioenergy activities and promote commercial ties between Denmark and the United States.

"It is an honor to serve on the Council's board as it is representative of the cultures and the business markets in which Novozymes operates. And the significant similarities between Denmark and North Carolina are ever-growing. Both have become biotech havens and are recognized and respected within the industry for contributions made to biotechnology and innovation, stated Nagy. "And Novozymes wants to continue to foster those relationships," he concluded.

Nagy joined Novozymes, which has U.S. headquarters in North Carolina, in 1987 when the company was the enzyme division of Danish-based insulin manufacturer Novo Nordisk. Nagy has held a variety of management positions of increasing responsibility and prior to selection as president of Novozymes North America, served as vice president for production and global procurement for Novozymes A/S in Bagsværd, Denmark. Nagy currently serves on the governing body of the Industrial & Environmental Section of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO).

Novozymes North America has recently been recognized by the NC Biotechnology Center as the state's leading industrial biotechnology company.
